Mail

This morning I stumbled upon the Smithsonian Institutions Photostream on Flickr. Have you seen it? It’s amazing! There are all these really neat old portraits of dead guys I’ve never heard of (who were you Daniel Garber?) and documentary photos (Edward Gay working at his easel).

There are also all these photos of the postal system.

Apparently that top one is a picture of the Christmas rush. I find something magical about that. Think of all the letters to Santa in that pile! I love getting and sending mail, don’t you? I think it’s one of the best way to make people feel special.
