Nick Brandt Photography

Today, Liz and I journeyed down to St. Lawrence Market so that Liz could pick up a receipt for her new glasses and I could get out of the house. If you are ever in Toronto, take the TTC to Union station and walk east down Front Street toward the Hockey Hall of Fame (or Temple de la renommee du hockey in french), it is a really lovely stretch of road — full of restaurants, pubs, St. Lawrence Market and one particularly awesome bookstore (Nicholas Hoare), which we of course went to while we were down there. There I found this amazing book of photography by Nick Brandt, a photographer who concentrates on the wildlife of Africa to, as explained by Wikipedia, “record a visually poetic last testament to the wild animals and places there before they are gone at the hands of man.” So… he’s a little pretentious, but his photos took my breathe away.
