Design Sponge

Do you know Design Sponge? I feel like I’ve talked about them here before. I pretty much think that Grace Bonney is the awesome-est of awesome and would really like to have her job. I got the Design Sponge book for Christmas and looooove it.

Every week or so, Design Sponge has this reoccurring column called “living in,” where they do a little feature on products that reflect the mood/aesthetic of different movies. They’ve done Twin Peaks and Almost Famous, Downton Abbey and White Christmas.

This week it’s “Living In: Atonement,” one of my favorite books/ movies. I remember seeing Atonement in theaters with my aunt and when it got to the end (I’m not going to spoil it, you’ll have to see it yourself), I bawled my eyes out.  It’s a really lovely movie and I really like the spread Design Sponge did.

That dress is gorgeous, no?

Sweet Summer Dresses

Are you dreaming of summer? I sure am. If I had a spare sixty dollars (which I don’t) I’m not really sure which of these beauties I would buy. They’re all so lovely.

(from here, here, here)

The second one reminds me of The Artist. Have you seen it? I loooooooved it AND the Oscars are this weekend!! Not going to lie, my favorite part about the Oscars is the fashion.

Whoops

Op! Did you hear that? that was me, dropping the blogger ball yet again.  Ah well.

I’m going to make it up to you, okay? Next week is winter week! When I first moved to Toronto from California, I was so excited to live in my first place with snow, but I knew absolutely nothing about it. I didn’t really know that I knew nothing about it, but looking back I was pretty clueless. Now, however, I am older, wiser and have FINALLY after THREE winters have mastered the cold. How you might ask? Well you’ll just have to wait and see.

For now, have a lovely weekend, and what do you think of this ensemble

I’m pretty much IN LOVE with that dress. BUT I feel like I’m too young to wear it. Does that make sense?

What To Wear to Work: Worries of a Soon-To-Be-Graduating Fashionista

Hello hello!

Happy Monday!

Did we all have a good weekend?

Remember that time I was wishing it would get nice and fall-like? Well here I am, wearing sweatpants and wrapped in a blanket while outside it is raining. It was cold and rainy literally all weekend and now I am slightly regretting my wishes. I think I might require a trip to the mall to buy some legwarmers.

BUT I also declared my intent to GRADUATE today. WOAH. Or as my good friend Ren aka Kevin Bacon in Footloose would say, “jump back!” Please don’t ask me what I’m going to do after that, because I really don’t know at this point. Currently the plan is to apply to a million things (not grad school) and see what happens. Does that sound like a good plan to you? because that’s simply the best I got so far.

In the spirit of the work world, I’ve been thinking a lot about what you WEAR when you turn into a pumpkin, I mean, a grown-up. I think there has to be some kind of happy medium between office drone and hip-fashionista that still looks professional.

I feel like ASOS has a lot of good options (like this or this or this). I’m really rather partial to this:

I’m a sucker for a nice bird print and a retro feel. Modcloth has something rather similar.

What do you think? What makes good office wear?

also, I know I talk a lot about shoes and I’m pretty sure they are the opposite of office appropriate, but OMG, I WANT THEM.

To Head Scarf or not to Head Scarf?

Lets talk hair, for just a minute.

I’m kinda in love with the idea of scarves as headbands/ hair accessories. I know I’m a little late in the game, but I finally made this look really work for me today and am kinda excited about it. For the longest time they would just slip off my head, I think the secret to getting it to stay is to find one that is long enough to wrap around twice. I adore the retro vibe of the polka dot orange one below! That’s definitely the kind of look I could get behind.

What do you think? are headscarves passe? or still totally passable?
