Design Sponge

Do you know Design Sponge? I feel like I’ve talked about them here before. I pretty much think that Grace Bonney is the awesome-est of awesome and would really like to have her job. I got the Design Sponge book for Christmas and looooove it.

Every week or so, Design Sponge has this reoccurring column called “living in,” where they do a little feature on products that reflect the mood/aesthetic of different movies. They’ve done Twin Peaks and Almost Famous, Downton Abbey and White Christmas.

This week it’s “Living In: Atonement,” one of my favorite books/ movies. I remember seeing Atonement in theaters with my aunt and when it got to the end (I’m not going to spoil it, you’ll have to see it yourself), I bawled my eyes out.  It’s a really lovely movie and I really like the spread Design Sponge did.

That dress is gorgeous, no?

Oh Hey There

Right, I have a blog. I kinda totally forgot. Did you forget? I wouldn’t blame you. I know that I get a little frustrated when bloggers that I really like don’t blog regularly. I’m not saying you really like me (feel free to though), but I feel your pain. Truth is, I haven’t had any time to blog… or eat… or sleep or doing anything a normal human being does. I’m woefully behind on watching The West Wing. These last three weeks have majorly kicked my ass. The course calender and timetable for next year came out and I haven’t had time to even LOOK. Seriously, one of my favorite things is to pick out my courses. But now (like right now, I’m currently on the bus to the airport), I’m on my way back to California for ten glorious days of nothing but netflixs streaming, reading for pleasure and jaunting around the Bay Area. Oh, and then there’s Easter.

In honor of my only and last final yesterday — Marine Mammal Biology — I share with you this amazing print that I love and would happily buy.

I found it here

*disclaimer: there are no marine mammals on that poster.

Shiver Me Timbers!

This has to be the coolest bedroom I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

ITS A PIRATE SHIP!

When that little boy becomes a teenager, he is going to love that private little room up there. These people’s house also happens to have a slide that spans all three floors: http://api.ning.com/files/Lq9vZ86mAUhSSHC4OuZAQ0JnoI29ENanA2nuAaTApycUpiHy4tJbkDvyw3w2vZyojWTl96xXOH9KVFdvHsESXvpYt1Iuc8BH/PirateShipBedroom13.jpg

And I though my family’s remodel was cool, fancy wainscoting has nothing on this.

If you could have any kind of theme room what would it be? Even though I’m a full grown adult now (at least that’s what my drivers license says), I would definitely not say no to a medieval castle room, but only if it had a hidden passage way and a tower.

Favorite Book Title of the Week

http://img1.wantitall.co.za/images/ShowImage.aspx?ImageId=Sea-Captains-Houses-and-Rose-Covered-Cottages-The-Architectural-Heritage-of-Nantucket-Island%7C61Y6WZ8ES1L.jpg

Isn’t that lovely? I expect tales of epic love and dashing adventure from a title like that.  I actually want to read this book on the architectural heritage of Nantucket even though I a) have no previous interest in the topic and b) have never even been there. Well done Universe publishers, well done.
